Before I get over this music video-posting craze and get back to serious blogging - Noted cultural commentator Gadjo Dilo has recently posted some interesting Ukrainian music videos. In a spirit of serious musicology, I would like to share the following video - Russian band ANJ's tribute to Mikhail Gorbachev, dealing with some seriously heavy political and economic issues within the music video form - with the three people in the world who haven't seen it yet:

The first clip could replace any musty old college seminar on late Soviet history. Concise, hip and accurate - Žižek could not have done better.
As for the second, I would like much much more of this Cambodian fusing stuff. Please.

Glad to hear your a Bordello fan, Pearl. Did you know the lead singer Eugene Hütz acts in the film Everything Is Illuminated?
He'd be my choice for the new James Bond if Daniel Craig gets bored.
I'd rather been led to believe that Eugene Hütz was the Russell Brand of gypsy music, but I must Bordello a second chance. (Sorry Pearl, the name Russell Brand must mean nothing to you!)
